Today felt like three days in one. We left the hostel in the drizzle and headed towards the Adalade hills. Luckily they were shrouded in cloud/fog so we couldn’t see that they’re actually pretty sizeable.

The climb was long but with fresh legs and low visibility (meaning you can’t see how long to go) we plodded up and it wasn’t too bad.
The second phase of the day was after about 2500ft of climbing when the weather properly opened up and we were pissed on pretty severely.
Had a coffee break in Aldgate and left when we thought the rain had let up, but how wrong we were. At its worst it was hailing so hard it stung and here was much chattering teeth.

The third stage was the afternoon when the weather cleared up and it felt like a different day entirely and for some easy miles in.

We poked our head into a campsite to shower and dry off, but the place was super murdery so hopped on a chain ferry and camped in some bushes down the road. Hoping tomorrow will be drier.

We got up and headed off with a pretty solid tail wind and sent the first 20 miles to our morning coffee. Then uneventful riding until our lunch stop. Unfortunately, whilst we were eating Jack got bitten by what he described as a fire breathing dragon.
After lunch we saw a couple of emus and our first wombat.

Tail wind picked up after lunch and made some good ground but found ourselves in miles of bog as we looked for a camping spot as the rain started. The whole area is called Tilley Swamp which should have been a give away. Chilled and cooked dinner in the tent then got our heads down early. Turned out to be a 95 mile day!
